Being in Cuba has been exiting, but being at the Habanos Festival in Havana this week has been more than that, and it is something one can not miss.
The event is held every year and it is such a success with exhibitions, tours, humidors auctions showing the finest pieces of art completely handmade, and many other activities.
On its second day I joined an amazing tour to tobacco plantations in Pinar del Rio province (1 hour from Havana ), there they grow this magnificent plant with latest technologies and care, and the places are surrounded by spectacular landscapes, we were able to walk around plantations and talk to the "campesinos" who work in the crops.
Not far form there we visited the spectacular Valle de Viñales, a very beautiful valley with a river passing through an open cave. The following day we went to two of the most prominent and ancient cigar factories in Havana , H. Hupman in Vedado zone and Partagas located in old Havana , just facing the well known Capitolio. At the factories we got the warm welcome of cigar manufacturers who showed to us the whole process of the cigars as the famous Cohiba, I can still smell it. Looking at beautiful humidors done by expert hands was delightful. I really feel this trip is worth a try.
