Tryp Habana Libre Havana Blog

Right in the action

The Tryp Habana Libre in Havana was a great hotel that is kind of central to everything. My only problem with the hotel was that we had to change rooms 4 times until we found one where the air-conditioning worked well. Fortunately we did this before we unpacked so it was more inconvenient foe the poor bellman who was kind enough to lug our luggage back and forth.

Once we had a room with air-conditioning that worked we were all set, and the room was great. We got unpacked and went to the second floor where they had this amazing swimming pool. I spent a lot of time there in between sightseeing Havana . I toured around a lot in Old Havana which was amazing. The clothing stores were beautiful in these old building that are all being restored. Sights that was just incredible to see. I had several dinners and lunches in the restaurants in Old Havana that were absolutely delicious but expensive. To tell you the truth we ate at several Paladars (I am not sure if I am spelling it properly) where it is truly home cooked Cuban food and they were the most delicious meals of my stay there and very reasonably priced. I remember going to an outdoor shopping mall I think it was near a hotel called the comodoro if I remember correctly. That was fun just walking and looking around and having a nice bite to eat. I took a lot of evening walks by the malecon which was a long stretch just by the water surrounded by a huge wall. Sometimes depending on the night, water would come right over the wall and get you and those were the night you had to avoid. It was such a beautiful city and no matter how much time I spent there I knew I had so much more to see. It was amazing having a pool right at the hotel Tryp Habana Libre to cool down in after a day of sightseeing. I only ate at the hotel once and it has been a dinner at the buffet which I found to be good but not worth the money. The hotel was a great place to stay to be able to be nearby everything. It is a little better than average. Nothing fancy but you can’t beat the location.
